The vow factor…

If you are stuck writing your vows here are a few tips! The best vows are those that are from the heart. They don’t have to be poetic or a stage performance - unless that’s you and your style! If you want to say personal vows at your ceremony but are stuck on getting them written, here are a few tips…

  • Start with what you love the most about your partner. “The thing I love most about you is…”; “I love that you are…”; “I knew we were meant to be when you…”. You don’t need to over think it - what comes to your mind and heart first?

  • What is little bit of your love journey? “Between our first date and all those walks and talks, you became the person I want to be with the most.”; “From when we first met to our chats over the kitchen counter, adventures and times spent …., are you the person I don’t want to be without”. When did you realise they were the person for you?

  • Make a promise that really means something to you. “I promise to always listen, even when we don’t agree.”; “I promise to always be on your side.”; “I promise to keep making time for us.”. The little everyday promises count to - it is the tiny threads which hold relationships together.

  • Your vows don’t have to be poetic or a rehearsed speech!. They just have to be YOU and from your heart!

  • Don’t be afraid to bring laughter!. “I promise to share my chocolate with you.”; I promise to keep loving you, even when you take a wrong turn because you weren’t listening to the directions!”. What’s a little quirk between the two of you?

  • What are your dreams for the future?. “I am looking forward to….”; “I will keep choosing you, over and over again.”; “I am looking forward to sharing laughter and joy and navigating the challenges together.”; “I am looking forward to waking up by your side, every day.”

From Dr. Seuss: "We're all a little weird, and life's a little weird. And when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall in mutual weirdness and call it love."
